Other Talents
Creative pursuits and accomplishments
2008-2023.
Au Pair
Italy, 2008-2009. I worked as an au pair for a British-Italian family in rural Umbria. I cared for four young children ages 2-8, and helped with domestic duties and chores. I studied Italian for four years in high school and 3 years in college and speak with proficiency.
Curator
Harwood Art Center, February 2013. Comfort in Impermanence: a Judith Gregoire retrospective. I selected paintings, prints, and sculptures from my late mother’s extensive portfolio then planned and hosted the art show to honor her work spanning several decades. I coordinated and displayed the work, and gave a curator talk on opening night.
Literary Journal Internship
The University of New Mexico, Spring 2014. I worked for the Blue Mesa Review, the prestigious literary journal put out by UNM. I read through “slush” submissions in fiction, nonfiction and poetry, voted on and provided commentary on which submissions to include, and participated in group discussions on pieces for possible publication.
Music
From 2008 to 2012, I wrote and recorded solo music as well as collaborations, including a self-produced album with my former band The Gatherers. I performed with The Gatherers at many popular music venues in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I also performed several solo shows and appeared on a compilation album for Gatas y Vatas, an annual solo female music festival held in Albuquerque and Seattle.
Published Author
Volition Magazine, 2015-2016. I published one short original fiction story and one interview with the artist/musician Brandon Boyd, in the first and third issues of the independent magazine, Volition. I am currently working on my first novel, a piece that blurs the lines between fiction and memoir inspired by my experience living and working in Italy. I am also developing a piece of investigative journalism about the impact of Adverse Child Experiences (ACEs) in New Mexico.
